(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) One person is facing impaired-related charges after a traffic stop.
On Saturday, May 24, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol on Highway 551 in MChigeeng First Nation. Police observed a vehicle that was travelling on Highway 551 turn onto Mnaawnkwad Road, and a traffic stop was initiated. Police conducted Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) on the driver, and as a result, the driver was arrested for impaired operation.
The driver, Diane BEBONING, 43-years-old from MChigeeng First Nation, was charged with:
Refusal to comply with demand
Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available two counts
Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available two counts
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on June 24, 2025.
